Disrupting the Manosphere

Relationships

About this module

Research and experience tell us the same story: gender stereotypes and the rise of Manosphere content are fuelling a culture of growing disrespect in Australian schools. While the media often places the blame on teachers and parents, we know they are often seeking understanding and are keen to play an active, positive role in creating change.

This workshop was created to support these dedicated adults and build a unified strategy to combat these challenges. This interactive session brings parents and educators into the same room to do just that.

What to expect

We’ll start by unpacking how gender stereotypes shape a young person’s sense of self and how those pressures can make Manosphere content feel appealing. From there, we’ll explore what the Manosphere actually is, how it shows up in the everyday, and the slippery slope from seemingly harmless “gateway content” to more extreme online communities.

Most importantly, we’ll focus on what you can do. You’ll walk away with practical ways to support young men in your care, spark honest conversations, and role-model healthy, respectful masculinity without shaming or shutting anyone down. By working together, parents and educators can create the kind of support network young people need to grow into respectful, self-aware young men.
