Tomorrow Woman and Tomorrow Man acknowledge that our offices are on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nations.
Ellaini grew up in an environment marked by family violence, making many of her childhood memories elusive. Despite these challenges her mother and grandmother instilled in her the importance of using her voice and claiming her space. But in external environments like school, Ellaini's assertiveness was often misjudged and labelled as 'too much'.
The disconnect between the empowering messages at home and the societal reactions outside, paired with the silence around mental health in her household, forced Ellaini to grow up quickly. This environment led her to internalise her feelings, causing her to feel emotionally distant and empty.
A pivotal moment in her life was her introduction to the work of Brené Brown. Inspired by Brown's teachings, Ellaini committed to living wholeheartedly, leaning into ‘scary’ emotions. This newfound perspective drove her to undertake a Bachelor's in Global Studies with a specialisation in Gender Studies. She is now on her journey towards completing a Masters in Social Work.
Ellaini joined Tomorrow Woman to be part of an organisation which destigmatises mental health through breaking down patriarchal norms and tells young people that it is important to feel a full range of emotions. She firmly believes in the necessity of connection and love for individual growth and a fulfilled life.
Outside of work, Ellaini is an avid reader and loves being outdoors. But her number one passion is CrossFit, which she practises daily but also occasionally competes in!
